    Your care team

    • You’ll have unlimited access to a dedicated team of GI experts, working across specialties to improve your quality of life by treating and managing your symptoms. Your care team may include GI providers (nurse practitioners and physician assistants), registered dietitians, and gut-brain specialists, with medical care guided by our gastroenterologists.

You’ll also have access to our care coordinators, who can help you navigate your health journey, including medical record retrieval and any external referrals or procedural needs.

    • We prioritize continuity of care and make every effort to keep your experience seamless and consistent. You’ll see the same GI provider for scheduled visits and follow-ups, unless special circumstances arise. You’ll also have a dedicated registered dietitian and/or gut-brain specialist, if recommended by your GI provider. All providers on your team share notes and care plans, so everyone stays aligned on your goals and history.

If you ever feel the connection with a provider isn’t a good fit, you can request a change by reaching out to [email protected]. We take these requests seriously and will review them carefully, working with you to match you with another provider who’s licensed in your state. Our goal is to make sure you feel supported, heard, and confident in your care.

    • Our GI providers include nurse practitioners and physician assistants—licensed professionals with specialized education, training, and experience in GI conditions and symptoms. They deliver high-quality, personalized care under the guidance of a gastroenterologist.

    • Your first appointment with a GI provider is a chance to talk through what you’ve been experiencing and start building a plan to help you feel better. Your provider will start by asking you questions about:

      • Your health history
      • Your GI symptoms
      • Your lifestyle
      • How your gut issues may be affecting your quality of life
      • Your care goals

This is the time to share what’s been going on, what you’ve tried so far, if anything, and what your biggest symptom concerns are.

From there, your provider may discuss possible causes and recommend next steps. That might include testing, medication, and connecting you with a registered dietitian and/or gut-brain specialist.

Our providers want you to leave the visit feeling heard and supported, with a clear path forward for improving your digestive health.

    • Registered dietitians are experts in nutritional care who hold nationally recognized certifications from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and have completed accredited, supervised practice programs. Dietitians work in a variety of settings and practice areas.

Our registered dietitians have specialized education and training in gastroenterology. They provide our patients with tailored dietary and nutrition guidance to optimize digestive health and overall well-being, while keeping symptoms at bay.

    • Your first visit with a registered dietitian is a conversation focused on understanding you—your symptoms, eating habits, and how they might relate to one another. Your Oshi dietitian will ask you questions about:

      • Your current eating habits and nutrition-related goals
      • How certain foods make you feel
      • Any digestive symptoms you’ve been experiencing

From there, you’ll work together to identify patterns and create a personalized plan that feels realistic for you. By the end of the visit, you’ll have clear next steps outlined along with some practical guidance to get you started.

    • Our gut-brain specialists are licensed professionals with an advanced degree in psychology or other behavioral health specialties. They have deep knowledge of the science behind the brain-gut connection and are trained in evidence-based therapies—such as gut-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, gut-directed hypnotherapy, mindfulness-based skills, and more—that reduce GI symptoms and enhance well-being.

    • Your first visit with an Oshi gut-brain specialist focuses on understanding how your digestive symptoms and nervous system may be connected.

During the appointment, your provider will take time to learn about your symptoms, health history, and how gut issues may be affecting your daily life. They’ll also ask about the following, as it relates to your digestive health:

      • Stress levels
      • Sleep quality
      • Mood

Many digestive conditions are closely tied to how the gut and brain communicate, so all of this information helps your care team see the full picture.

Together, you’ll talk through approaches that may help regulate your gut-brain connection and reduce symptoms. Depending on your needs, this might include evidence-based techniques like gut-directed behavioral therapies, stress management techniques, or other tools aimed at supporting both digestive and nervous system health.

You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of the gut-brain connection and practical strategies to help you proactively manage your digestive health.

    • Gastroenterologists are licensed, board-certified doctors with advanced training in the management of GI conditions and symptoms, such as Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), pancreatitis, and more.

After medical school, gastroenterologists complete a three-year residency in internal medicine, followed by an additional three-year fellowship with specialized training in gastroenterology. Oshi Health gastroenterologists have all completed their fellowship training at a program certified by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

    • Our care coordinators are here to help you manage the logistics of care. You can reach out to a care coordinator via the chat function in the Oshi app with questions or for information on scheduling, medical records, prescriptions, lab or imaging orders, and referrals for services outside Oshi Health. You can also reach out via email at [email protected]

    • How often you meet with your care team depends on your symptoms, goals, and where you are in your care journey.

Early on, visits may be more frequent as your providers work to understand your symptoms, review your history, and build or adjust your care plan. As symptoms stabilize, visits are often spaced out and focus on long-term management and preventing flare-ups.

Between visits, you can message your care team through the Oshi Health app as often as you need. Messaging is there for questions, symptom updates, or guidance when something changes.

Our care is personalized to meet the unique needs of each patient.
